Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for patients in New York and Pennsylvania. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered, with a focus on evidence-based care. I work with Millennial and Gen Z professionals, First-Generation Americans, and those navigating life transitions. Treatment includes careful assessment, personalized medication plans, and ongoing support, including de-prescribing when appropriate.

  • I use the third-party billing company, Alma, to take insurance for Pennsylvania and some New York residents.

If I do not take your insurance, I can provide a Superbill for you to provide to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.

    Here are the fees:

90 min Initial Psychiatric Evaluation: $425

60 min Initial Psychiatric Evaluation: $345

50 min Follow Up Appointment: $315

25 min Follow Up Appointment: $220

  • All appointments will be via HIPAA-secure video. Due to state regulations, patients must be in the state of residence (New York or Pennsylvania) during the appointment.

It is recommended that the patient stay in a quiet and private area.

Appointments will be conducted every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on severity. On rare occasions, medication management appointments can be up to 3 months.

  • UO NP in Psychiatry PLLC is not appropriate for crisis management. It is imperative that patients utilize the appropriate emergency services, such as calling 911 or going to the Emergency Department.

  • If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we need at least one business day (24 hours) in order to fill your spot. You will be charged the full session fee for any missed or late canceled appointments.

Late arrivals (more than 15 mins) may require the appointment to be rescheduled.

  • I do not prescribe benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Klonopin) or sedative-hypnotics (e.g., Ambien, Lunesta). Decisions regarding other controlled substances, such as stimulants (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin), are made on a case-by-case basis as part of a comprehensive treatment plan and in compliance with federal regulations, including the Ryan Haight Act. This practice uses QB Check, an FDA-approved online ADHD test, to help evaluate for ADHD. A copy of a neuropsychological evaluation or comprehensive ADHD evaluation may be used as an alternative to completing a QB Check exam, depending on the individual case and evaluation details.

If a patient feels that they urgently need a controlled medication prescribed, this practice is not the right fit for their needs. Additionally, the provider disagreeing with a patient’s diagnosis or declining to prescribe a requested controlled medication does not constitute grounds for waiving or refunding the appointment fee.

  • Refills are prescribed during the appointment and will last until the next scheduled appointment. If a refill is needed in between appointments, please allow for up to 3 days (72 hours) to fill. Please confirm with the pharmacy first to make sure there is isn’t a refill on file.

  • To ensure efficient and effective care, any medication and prescription refills changes will be addressed during appointments.

  • I do not write Emotional Support Animal letters.

  • Patients must be seen for at least six months before FMLA or disability forms will be completed.

However, if it is determined that the patient needs disability, the patient may be referred to a higher level of care where such paperwork will be completed.
